You look great. I've been thinking about cutting bangs. Do you recommend it?

Bangs are just up to the personal choice- wearing my hair short and not having curly hair I have worm since not getting perms any more- when working I always had a perm & big Texas hair- no bangs then- but a weekly beauty shop appointment- on the other hand daughter Wendy hates bangs for herself- baby Kaylee has them as her little hair grows in her eyes fairly fast.

What are bangs? Goodness lost in translation- read it was something sexal in the UK too- Best Answer - FRINGE Chosen by Asker Thanks to the new word to my vocabulary. I did not know that and I watch BBC America and love British shows. lol But seriously never heard the word fringe before.
Seriously though I looked it up on a dictionary, probably American and it doesn't mean bangs or hair near one's forehead or ears.
Here's what it means:
A decorative border or edging of hanging threads, cords, or strips, often attached to a separate band. Something that resembles such a border or edging. A marginal, peripheral, or secondary part: “They like to hang out on the geographical fringes, the seedy outposts” (James Atlas). Those members of a group or political party holding extreme views: the lunatic fringe. Any of the light or dark bands produced by the diffraction or interference of light. A fringe benefit.
www.answers.com/topic/fringe
Then looked it up on on a UK site
. Noun - An ornamental appendage to the border of a piece of stuff, originally consisting of the ends of the warp, projecting beyond the woven fabric; but more commonly made separate and sewed on, consisting sometimes of projecting ends, twisted or plaited together, and sometimes of loose threads of wool, silk, or linen, or narrow strips of leather, or the like.
2. Noun - Something resembling in any respect a fringe; a line of objects along a border or edge; a border; an edging; a margin; a confine.
3. Noun - One of a number of light or dark bands, produced by the interference of light; a diffraction band; -- called also interference fringe.
4. Noun - The peristome or fringelike appendage of the capsules of most mosses. See Peristome.
5. v. t. - To adorn the edge of with a fringe or as with a fringe.
www.dictionary.co.uk/browse.aspx?…
So what this tells me is that this is Brit lingo or slang.
Ironically I looked up the word bangs on the UK website and nothing on the word bangs
Did a search for it on an American site and it poped up with.
bang2 /bæŋ/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [bang] Show IPA –noun 1. Often, bangs. a fringe of hair combed or brushed forward over the forehead.
–verb (used with object) 2. to cut (the hair) so as to form a fringe over the forehead. 3. to dock (the tail of a horse or dog).
dictionary.reference.com/browse/b…
Okay so the word says a fringe of hair. Fair enough. You're just using more of the defination of what Bangs is. lol Source(s): A really geeky person with a degree in English.

The hair that hangs over your forehead. They can be a pain though...you always have to keep them trimmed.

Kaylee is growing up so fast but she's still adorable. You're looking good too, Bertie. Are you marking at 79 or going to celebrate again next year. Anyway, happy belated birthday.

Oh I will celebrate as long as I am on this earth- having a new rescue dog is helping- I have never had a male dog before- not use to all the outside marking. He is 8 yrs old but acting like he is 3- so loving- gives kisses aplenty- he is very vocal Sugar very rarely barked in her later years- meet Jake

I`ve learnt something new now, thanks Bertie and Cheryl. I have had a fringe for years now---I would find it very difficult to call it a bang lol
